Every painting begins with a moment that captures my attention—a quiet street, sunlight on old architecture, flowers in bloom, or the changing colours of nature. Through oil, acrylic and mixed media, I seek to transform these fleeting impressions into paintings that evoke emotion and invite contemplation. My aim is not simply to reproduce a scene but to express its atmosphere and spirit.

Short Biography

Indrani Ghosh is a contemporary artist based in India whose work navigates the intersections of impressionism, semi-abstraction, and expressionism. Her recent practice increasingly embraces abstract expressionism, reflecting a shift toward a more instinctive and gestural approach to the canvas.

Working with oils and acrylics, Ghosh utilizes a tactile approach that prioritizes raw, physical energy over traditional precision. She frequently employs a palette knife to drag, scrape, and layer paint, a technique she views as an unapologetic channel for emotion. This process results in richly textured surfaces that communicate a range of sensations, from the urgency of passion to the quiet resilience of nature.

Her compositions often feature recurring motifs of coastal harbors, wild meadows, and historic cityscapes. Alongside these themes, she explores female figuratives, often capturing moments of introspection and transition within expressive environments. In her more abstract works, these subjects dissolve into layered atmospheres of color and light, inviting viewers to explore the discovery found in both the human form and everyday surroundings.

 My Artist Statement:

My artistic creations are rooted in texture, dimension, color, and thoughtful design. Nature, travel, and the vibrant hues found in both landscapes and urban settings inspire me. I focus on abstract, abstract expressionism, and impressionism, utilizing mixed media, acrylics, and oils. My works are often vibrant, filled with depth and rich textures. Light and architectural elements significantly influence my ability to convey a sense of place, while color and texture serve to evoke powerful emotions. I aspire for viewers of my paintings to connect, explore, and embark on a journey of discovery.
